Hello! Sew We Work often receives fabric and in-kind donations.
With these donations, I am able to make items for homeless persons. With upholstery fabric i can make bags and simple back packs; in addition with lighter weight fabric i make "ditty bags" so they can hold little items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, brushes, meds, etc.
With fleece i make hats and scarves - they don't like mittens too much so i don't make those.
With yarn I knit and/or crochet hats and scarves in the fall and winter.
In addition to making things out of donated fabric, i am able to repair parka, jacket, and backpack zippers.
In my sewing for people who visit shelters, i work at using donated fabrics so that they fabrics do not end up in a landfill. My personal goal is to create things out of donated fabric or used clothing in order to help our planet breathe better.
